Introduction of NDS 2024.09.05

Study tour in the Philippines

From July 26 to July 31, a total of 10 students, 3 high school 1st year students and 7 high school 2nd year students, went on a study tour to the Philippines.

On the first day, we gathered at Hiroshima Station, departed from Hiroshima Airport, and arrived in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. It took about 9 hours changing planes in Taiwan. After checking in at the hotel, we went to a nearby mall, strolled around, and had dinner at a restaurant.

On the second day, we had an exchange meeting with street children. We played games, listened to their current situation, and learned about their lives. After that, we visited the I-CAN orphanage “Kodomo no Ie” (Children’s House). By playing and communicating with small children, we were able to communicate with them beyond the language barrier.

On the third day, we visited the World Heritage Site of Fort Santiago and the San Augustin Society. Afterwards, each of us met up with our homestay families.

On the fourth day, we went to the local Naga High School with our host sisters. First, a welcome program was held, and we were welcomed with dancing and singing. After that, we participated in classes and had lunch with local students. After school, we spent free time with our host sisters.

On the fifth day, we said goodbye to our host families at school. We were given a grand send-off by the local students.
After that, we visited the ChildFund Japan Manila office and the home of a Japanese expatriate. After that, we each went shopping at the mall for souvenirs and other items.

On the last day, we went to Manila airport in the morning, and then via Taiwan flew to Japan and safely disbanded at Hiroshima station in the evening.
