“Setsubun”
February 3rd is “Setsubun”.
Have you heard of Setsubun?
Setsubun is one of the Japanese cultural events.
We consider any diseases and disasters as Oni,demon.
By throwing soybeans at Oni, which are usually played by parents,we pray for happiness of the year.
When we do this,we say “oni wa soto hukuwa uti”.
It means , “let’s expel calamity and bring in happiness”.
And then,we eat as many soybeans as our age.For example if you are fifteen, you eat fifteen soybeans.
It is because we want to get the power of soybeans which can expel Oni.
Why don’t you try it , too ?
