Sr.メリー・コネリーの帰天

創立期から長く（日本で50年間），英語教育に携わってこられた，Ｓｒ・メリーが亡くなられました。ご冥福をお祈りするとともに，私たち教職員を代表して，二人の現役シスターからシスターの思い出やシスターへの感謝の言葉を紹介させていただきます。
厳しい英語教師として、また心温かいやさしい宣教師として１９５１年から２００１年にかけて私たちを導いてくださったSr.メリー・コネリーが６月２８日の朝、アメリカで善き神さまのもとに召されました。
昨年の夏、アメリカでお目にかかった時に、往年の授業を思い起こさせる口調で英語を訂正してくださったことや日本のノートルダム清心で学ぶ生徒や卒業生のことをずっと気にかけてくださっていたお姿が忘れられません。
ご家族、卒業生の皆様、そして同じ修道会のシスター達の祈りに支えられ安らかに神様のもとに帰られたSr.メリー・コネリーは、これからも生前のように“Next”や「イケマセン」とおっしゃりながら私たちを見守り、導いてくださることと思います。
本校の創設当初から力を尽くしてくださったシスターとのお別れは寂しいですが、シスターのおもいを大切に引き継いでこれからも歩んでいきたいと思います。（Ｓｒ．中村）
Sister Mary Connelly, our well-remembered English teacher, who dedicated 50 years of her religious mission to Japan and particularly to Notre Dame Seishin Hiroshima, went hope to God on Sunday June 28th 2015, at 7:30 in the morning. She was 93 years old. She was aware that she was dying and met that hour with peace. In her last days, she was able to contact family and friends in the US and was accompanied in her last hours by many loving Sisters of Notre Dame.
Sister Mary went back to the United States in 2001, though if it had been possible, she would dearly have loved to spend her last days in the Japan, a country she loved so much. Even in retirement, she remained active. She lived in a community of 80 sisters and was involved in their activities as well as with all the business of the congregation. She will be dearly missed.
