12students from our school went to America from the 24th of March to the 30th . The aim of this trip was visiting Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, our sister school, and interacting with the students. For 3 days, we stayed at different host family’s homes. Each student could enjoy the time with her host family. And we had classes at the Academy. We were surprised at the difference from our school’s classes. I hope that this interaction will be continued.
On the last day, we went to New York. First we visited the United Nations. Sr Amarachi, who is a member of Notre Dame NGO and works at the United Nations, told us about what we could do for the world now. Then, we visited the United Nations Headquarters. There is a statue which was exposed to radiation in Nagasaki in 1945 and arephotos of the mushroom cloud which were taken in Hiroshima in 1945. We wondered what we have to do to accomplish world peace.
Next we went sightseeing. We were excited all the time, because everything in New York is wonderful. That night, we went on a cruise around the Statue of Liberty. It was very beautiful, so I was impressed.
This experience was very meaningful for us, so we want to make use of this experience.
Please look forward to our blog being updated.
